Emergency Rental Assistance Ends July 31 In Allegheny County

The county said it provided more than $117 million in rent and utilities help to people across Allegheny County during the pandemic.

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — The county is reminding residents that the Allegheny County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) ends July 31.

The program, paid for by federal money and some local funding, began to provide assistance to those who needed economic help during the COVID-19 pandemic. The county said it's provided more than $117 million in rent and utilities help to people across Allegheny County.

Those applicants who still have documents to submit must do so by August 1, the county said in a notice.

"Notifications will be sent to individuals in active mediation or eviction proceedings, and they will need to provide any outstanding documents for consideration by July 31," the county said. "All outstanding applications for those not in in active mediation or eviction proceedings will be classified as ineligible and denied."

The county stopped taking new applications for the program in March but kept giving out assistance while applications were in progress.

"As of July 18, the program has provided $117,917,316 in rent and utilities assistance to 17,534 households," the county said.

For those needing assistance submitting documents to complete the process on a pending application during this time-period, the following options are available:

  • There is a step-by-step guide available on the rental assistance website at https://covidrentrelief.allegh... for those who want to upload their own documents.
  • Call ACTION-Housing at 412-248-0021 for questions about documents or document assistance.
  • Make an appointment with the Allegheny LINK at 1-866-730-2368 and make an appointment to get virtual assistance from a staff member.

The ACTION Housing Stabilization Center at 415 Seventh Avenue will be closed through August 5 as staff works to process remaining eligible applications.
