Former Penguins Player Turned Announcer Dies
A former Penguins player and current successful hockey broadcaster has passed away.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Greg Millen, who parlayed a lengthy NHL career that began with the Penguins into a successful run as a hockey analyst, died Monday. He was 67.
Millen's death was described by the NHL Alumni Association as "sudden" but a cause was not provided.
Millen, a goaltender, was a sixth-round pick of the Penguins in the 1977 NHL Draft. He played three seasons for the Penguins beginning in 1978-79, compling an overall record of 57-56-18.

In his 14-year career, Millen also played for the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings. Overall, he appeared in more than 600 regular-season games.
Millen transitioned into broadcasting after his playing career ended. According to the alumni association, he began by covering the Ottawa Senators during their inaugural season in 1992-93. He also served as a color commentator for CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and the NHL on Sportsnet. He covered three Olympic Games, two World Cups of Hockey, 12 Stanley Cup finals and twelve NHL All-Star games.

Millen is survived by his wife and four children.
