Giant Eagle Sets Opening Date For New Pittsburgh Store

One of Pittsburgh's largest grocery chains is about to add a new Pittsburgh store. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Giant Eagle next month will open a new Pittsburgh location in Westwood near the neighboring suburbs of Green Tree and Crafton. The grocery chain announced Thursday it is taking over the former Shop 'n Save store at 2013 Noblestown Road and will open it on Nov. 14.

According to the announcement, Giant Eagle is looking to hire 100 people to staff the store.

Another former Shop 'n Save, this one in Lawrenceville, is being converted into an Aldi supermarket.

Giant Eagle's expansion in the West End comes amid reports that several other grocery chains - including Wegmans, Meijer and Sprouts Farmers Market - are eying potential Pittsburgh-area locations.
