Group Brutally Beats Man In Downtown Pittsburgh: Police

PITTSBURGH, PA — Police on Thursday released details of a group's attack on a man in Downtown Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were dispatched around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street for a reported fight. Officers found a man on the ground with multiple bruises and cuts to his face, including a large welt above his eye and a cut lip.

The man, who was having difficulty breathing and speaking, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

A witness provided video of the attack which shows a group of about eight people kicking and stomping the man as he lay on the ground. Officers quickly located and arrested two suspects a short distance away in Triangle Park.

Robert Richard, 18, of North Versailles and William Yarbrough, 18, of Pittsburgh both were charged with aggravated assault.

The relationship between the victim and the other individuals is not known at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
