PITTSBURGH, PA — Kennywood and Sandcastle are reopening Friday, but the experience will be a bit different than in the past. The West Mifflin amusement park and its affiliated West Homestead water park have delayed 2020 openings because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Kennywood will reopen to season pass holders Friday. The general public can visit starting Monday. Sandcastle will open to everyone on Friday.

But it won't be businesses as usual. Many precautions will be in place to ensure the safety of visitors as the region experiences an uptick in coronavirus cases.

  • Guests will need to register for the date they wish to visit in advance, in addition to their regularly purchased ticket or season pass.
  • The RSVP system will be available beginning Wednesday, June 17. Dates will be released in phases, and not all at once.
  • If the date you wish to visit is not listed in the online calendar, the facilities may have already reached their capacity limit for that date and you will need to choose another day. If you are looking for a date later in the summer, check back again as more dates will open as the summer progresses.
  • Any person with a temperature of 100.4°F or higher, or displaying other symptoms of COVID-19, will be denied entry.
