Longtime Pittsburgh Restaurant Ending 35-Year Run

A well-known Pittsburgh eatery is serving its final meals.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The restaurant that says it introduced Thai cuisine to the Pittsburgh area in 1989 is shutting its doors. The last day of business for Thai Palace on Route 19 in Wexford is Oct. 20.

The closure was announced on the restaurant's website.

"We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for choosing to dine with us for decades," a message on the website stated. "It has brightened our days and we hope your experience was nothing short of delightful.

"Our team takes immense pride in serving you our exceptional homemade Thai dishes passed down from recipes in owner Surin's family. However, all good things must come to an end. We have decided to fully retire and close our restaurant."

The flavors of Thai Palace will not vanish when the restaurant does. The eatery recently launched five cooking sauces: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour and General Tso’s.
