Mikey was left behind by his owner in the Pittsburgh International Airport parking garage, police said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A West Virginia man is facing charges for allegedly abandoning his dog last week at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Allegheny County police said Monday that David Mittelberger Sr., 68, of Windsor Heights, West Virginia, has been charged with abandonment of animals, neglect of animal and cruelty to animals.
The chihuahua was found tied to a pole Thursday in the airport parking garage. County police posted video images of the suspect on social media; he was identified by tipsters, police said.

Investigators believe Mittelberg was traveling to California but have been unable to contact him, so the summary offense charges will be sent to him via citation.
The dog, Mikey, remains in the care of Animal Friends. He has an active mouth infection and is in need of significant dental care. Police are working with the state dog warden and Animal Friends to secure a court order allowing Mikey to receive the proper care.
