PITTSBURGH, PA —A national retailer has decided to bail on one of its Pittsburgh locations.
Macy's will shutter its store at the struggling Pittsburgh Mills Mall in Frazer. It's one of 14 stores in 12 states that the department store chain will close next as part of an ongoing downsizing operation.
"In executing our strategy, we continue to review our portfolio and make careful decisions about where and how we invest, including closing underproductive stores and streamlining operations. These decisions are not made lightly," Macy's CEO Tony Spring said in a statement.

The closure should not come as a shock. A prospective from real estate company Colliers that became public last April said the two-story, 173,000-square-foot store, which Macy's owns rather than leases from mall owner Namdar Realty Group, was for sale.
Macy's remaining locations in the Pittsburgh are will be at Ross Park Mall, South Hills Village, the Mall at Robinson and Monroeville Mall.
