The Allegheny County Health Department has issued its first consumer alert for 2026. Find out here what consumers should know.

PITTSBURGH, PA —The Allegheny County Health Department has issued its first consumer alert for 2026 and it impacts a well known city brewery and restaurant.
The alert tag was placed on Sly Fox Brewery at the Skyline in the South Side.
An inspector on Thursday found too many to count mouse droppings observed in all areas of the facility, including but not limited to:

- Behind the pizza oven and prep coolers in the pizza kitchen.
- On the lower shelf of the prep table in the pizza kitchen, including on a sheet pan holding cutting boards and pizza trays.
- On the lower shelf of the prep table in the kitchen where utensils are stored.
- Around the perimeter of the kitchen, especially beside the ice maker.
- Around the perimeter and under the shelving in the rear storage area.
- On and in a box of glassware on a shelf in the rear storage area.
- On a box holding wrapped single-use tablecloths.
- In the soda room.
- On a muffin pan in the soda room.
- Under the ice well and three bowl sink behind the bar.
- Under the shelving in the dry storage closet.
- Inside a box of corn starch in the dry storage closet.
- In the corners of the brewery
- In the office.
- In the emergency exit hallway near the customer toilet rooms.
Additionally, rodent nesting materials were observed in the dry storage closet and behind the beer walk-in cooler in the brewery.
A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

If the problems are not corrected, the eatery can be ordered to close.
