National Restaurant Chain Shrinking: See How Many PA Locations Remain
A well-known restaurant chain's locations are disappearing across the nation. Find out here where you can find one in Pennsylvania.
PENNSYLVANIA — A once-prominent national restaurant chain that declared bankruptcy last year has seen its footprint diminish dramatically - including in Pennsylvania.
As recently as last year, TGI Fridays had 270 locations across the country, according to CNN. Now there are only 79 Fridays still operating, according to the Fridays website. At its peak in 2008, there were nearly 600 locations in the United States.
Citing the effects of the pandemic and its capital structure, the company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2024.

"This restructuring will allow our go-forward restaurants to proceed with an optimized corporate infrastructure that enables them to reach their full potential," TGI Fridays executive chairman Rohit Manocha said in a release at the time.
The reorganization apparently has not gone spectacularly. The last two Friday restaurants in Missouri closed last week, leaving the Show-Me State Fridays-less.

In Pennsylvania, only nine Fridays remain. The state's two largest cities - Philadelphia and Pittsburgh - have one between the two; it's in Philadelphia.

- Bensalem
- Easton
- Erie
- Gettysburg
- Quakertown
- Scranton
- Wilkes-Barre
- Williamsport
Pennsylvania has the second-most number of Fridays of any state, trailing only Maryland's 11. Fridays still remain in these states:
