No More PA Wind Chill Warnings: National Weather Service
The National Weather Service is eliminating wind chill advisories, watches and warnings from its forecasts.
PENNSYLVANIA — While there still will be wind chills on the most frigid days in the coming weather, there no longer will be National Weather Service wind chill watches, advisories or warnings.
In an attempt to simplify its messaging system and provide people with better decision-making information, the weather service is consolidating its winter weather warning system. The consolidation "will allow NWS to communicate that cold is dangerous, with or without wind," the weather service stated in a social media post. "Wind chill will not go away although emphasis will be placed on 'cold is cold' for public safety."
Here's what that means: Wind chill advisories, watches and warnings are now extreme cold advisories, watches and warnings.

Additionally, the weather service freeze and hard freeze advisories will be streamlined into a freeze watch or warning, with enhanced language for hard freeze conditions.
Those uniform terms will be used all across the country, the weather service stated.
