PA State Police Find Animal Burn Pile On Farm, Rescue Others

More than 200 animals were rescued from a Pennsylvania farm; the burn pile was located at the back of the property.

ERIE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police investigating allegations of animal cruelty at an Erie farm over the weekend discovered an animal burn pile at the rear of the property.

State police began investigating animal cruelty allegations after receiving a video of numerous animals at the Liz and George Farm in Summit Township. A state police report indicated troopers conducted a walk-through of the property with the owners, YourErie.Com reported.

More than 200 animals were rescued from the farm, according to Ruth Thompson, founder of the Erie-based ANNA Shelter, who posted details of the incident on social media.

"Without going into all of the awful details - we were able to remove 223 live animals from the property - among them were 57 dogs (most puppies), cats, pot bellied pigs, ducks, geese, chickens and pigeons," she stated in a Facebook post. "Many dead animals were discovered there, including a burn pile on the back of the property."

No arrests have been made. State police are continuing their investigation.
