PITTSBURGH, PA — A dash of something different will be added to the city's dining scene in June with the opening of Palm Palm on Centre Avenue in Eastside.

Palm Palm's owners say the eatery will pay tribute to Palm Springs and Palm Beach. Its menu will feature shareable plates of coastal cuisine influenced by California and South America and will rotate seasonally, with favorite items always available.

The restaurant is a venture of Herky and Lisa Pollock and their partners, Chef Ed and Amanda Smith.

“We’re very aware that this amazing location makes us a destination and a neighborhood spot,” says Lisa Pollock. “We want to provide an experience that is tasty and special, while still being comfortable and welcoming.”

What can diners expect?

Ed Smith said the early summer opening menu will feature dishes such as sushi tots, poke-style featuring crispy sushi rice tots, big eye tuna, cucumber scallion and house poke sauce; and street corn taquitos with roasted corn, blend cheese and avocado.

“This is food that is fun but food that also makes you feel good,” he said. “It’s an escape on a plate. The freshest ingredients we can get our hands on, great blends of flavor and texture, and vibrant color on the table and in the glass– that’s the Palm Palm experience. We cannot wait to share it.”

Lisa Pollock said the design will be unique and include a hand-painted mural by Daniel Bland, as well as two oversized Peter Thomas photographs – one photograph is 17 feet the other is 55 feet. Two private dining rooms, located inside of the kitchen, will be true chef’s tables and offer a close-up view of the action.

“We’ve been calling this feeling we’re creating at Palm Palm ‘new nostalgia’,” Lisa Pollock said. "What’s old is new again– and we’re combining thoughtful throwbacks with modern comforts. We hope it helps our guests kick back, relax, and soak in a little bit of sunshine right now.”
