Pittsburgh-Area Police Force To Disband

A Pittsburgh-area community has decided to join a larger police department. Get the details here.

BRADDOCK, PA — The borough police department will disband as Braddock becomes the fourth municipality to join the Eastern Regional Mon Valley Police Department. Borough council approved the move Wednesday.

Borough officials told WTAE-TV that they believe joining Eastern Regional will improve police response time to incidents. Braddock does not always have an officer on duty, so the Pennsylvania State Police often have to respond to calls and come from as far away as Charleroi.

The borough and Eastern Regional still need to formally sign the deal.
