Pittsburgh Officer Hurt Responding To Gas Station Crash, Fire
A melee at a Pittsburgh gas station Thursday night left a city police officer injured.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh police officer was injured Thursday night while responding to a crash and fire at the Coen gas station on East Carson Street at East 24th Street on the city's South Side.
Police, fire and EMS were sent to the Coen location at approximately 11:20 p.m. for a reported fire around the gas pumps, which had been struck by a vehicle. The fire was quickly extinguished.
The man who was driving the vehicle was in the street and began fighting with officers.

Just before hitting the gas pumps, the suspect also struck an occupied vehicle in an alley behind the Coen and fled the scene. The driver of that vehicle was uninjured.
It's believed the suspect was heavily under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. It's unclear what charges he will face.

One officer also went to the hospital after suffering a hand injury.
