Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival Back After 2-Year Absence

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary this year by returning to its roots at SouthSide Works. The event will be held Saturday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

This year’s festival includes two dozen pierogi - also spelled pierogie- vendors, including four from Michigan, Ohio, Texas, and West Virginia; pierogi-inspired brews and cocktails; the Pop-Up Pierogi Marketplace; free activities and contests; live music; and a guest appearance by Pittsburgh’s favorite pierogi-mascots.

This year’s Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival will feature over 100 pierogi and pierogi-inspired dishes from a variety of vendors.

A number of pierogi vendors will be making their Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival debut this year. Braddock Public House will be serving its handmade potato and cheese variety and a special sweet potato variety topped with miso caramel and almond. Polska Laska and The Speckled Egg are teaming up to create a special collaborative dish; 5 Generation Bakers will be making a pierogi hoagie and The Oven Pizza, Co. will be offering up a pierogi-inspired pizza dubbed “The Polish Hill”, made with sour cream and chive potatoes, caramelized onions, crispy bacon, two kinds of cheese, and finished with a chive sour cream drizzle.
