Pittsburgh Probing Dog's Electrocution Death
Pittsburgh officials are attempting to determine the cause of a canine's electrocution death last week.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A family wants answers on how their beloved family dog was electrocuted while out on a walk last week.
According to KDKA-TV, the city is bringing in an outside entity to investigate how Nikki was killed on Jan. 7 while crossing a bridge in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood while on a walk with owner Bob Robinson-Dassel. The dog died after stepping on a metal plate.
First responders discovered the plate was electrified when they were removing Nikki’s body.

“It should never have happened. I mean, what happened to the dog and her electrocution and death, it’s just not good enough that I’m the one that’s affected by it," Robinson-Dassel told KDKA.
“It has to go up the chain and the city needs to think clearly about how they keep people safe from electrical shock on a public sidewalk.."
