"Because of "financial reasons," our contracts -- both up in September -- are not being renewed. We were told today. This industry can be brutal, often for women in particular. Lindsay and I have grit, but also grace. And gratitude."

Ward also addressed her departure on social media.

"Hey guys… Thursday was my last day at KDKA. It was also Kym Gable's last day too.," she stated.

"We packed up our stuff last night and said goodbye to some amazing people and a place we worked at for years. I was lucky to share some incredible stories from you, for you, and about you… from the field to the desk.

I’m not sure what’s next, but right now, my focus will be on my family and my two young, beautiful children. They will always come first."

In another development, weather forecaster Kristin Emery announced her retirement on three weeks. She and her husband already have sold their home in anticipation of that moment.

"It's time for hubby and I to downsize to a condo down south. More on that later," she stated in a Facebook post.
