Popular Pittsburgh Pub Raising Money For Critically Wounded Worker

A Pittsburgh tavern is attempting to aid one of its employees who was badly wounded in a shooting last weekend.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Bloomfield tavern is raising money for an employee who was critically wounded in a shooting last weekend.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, police were dispatched to Butler Street at 42nd Street in Central Lawrenceville at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday for multiple reports of a shooting. Officers found a man inside the front door of an establishment in the 4100 block of Butler Street with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Witnesses described to police a possible altercation before he was shot.

Silky's Pub on Liberty Avenue stated in a social media post Wednesday that the victim, Malcolm Nowlin, is one of their employees and that they will donate $5 from every patty melt sold to Malcolm and his family. The bar also is accepting cash and Venmo donations from patrons.

"We're praying for you, brother," the post stated.
