Retailer With Multiple Pittsburgh Locations Going Out Of Business

PITTSBURGH, PA — After nearly eight decades in business, a national retailer with multiple Pittsburgh locations has announced it is going out of business.

Ohio-based American Signature Inc. is closing all Value City and American Signature Furniture stores. Liquidation sales have begun at all locations two months after the company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

"Since its founding and subsequent expansion into many states, communities across the eastern half of the country found furniture they could rely on for style, quality, and value," a release by American Signature stated.

"The Going Out of Business sales start today in Value City Furniture's 79 stores across 13 states, and American Signature's 10 stores located in Delaware and Florida. Shoppers will find discounts of up to 50% off original prices on a wide selection of home furnishings, including living room, dining room, and bedroom collections, as well as decor, lighting, mattresses and rugs."

There are four Value City locations in the Pittsburgh Area:

  • Monroeville, 3801 William Penn Highway.
  • Pleasant Hills, 451 Clairton Boulevard.
  • Robinson, 1400 Park Manor Boulevard.
  • Cranberry, Route 19.

The chain's only other Pennsylvania store is in Harrisburg.

Here's what you should know about the liquidation:

  • All sales are final at all locations.
  • Customers should continue to make payments on furniture that they previously financed.
  • Value City will continue to offer warranties on new purchases, but the stores no longer accepting gift cards.
