Veteran Pittsburgh TV-Radio Personality Dies
A retired veteran of Pittsburgh's TV and radio news business has died.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Stanley Alan Boal, whose career in Pittsburgh broadcasting spanned five decades across multiple TV and radio stations, died Sunday.
Boal, of Upper St. Clair, was 95.
The Rochester native was a 1951 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism.

Boal launched his broadcasting career while in college by working as a staff announcer for WBVP-AM in Beaver Falls. After being drafted into the Army during the Korean War, he was an announcer for Armed Forces Radio and Blue Danube Network.
After his military service, he became a well-known figure in the Pittsburgh area and across the country. He worked at WDTV (later KDKA-TV), WKBN TV/radio, KQV-AM, WIIC (later WPXI-TV) and WTAE TV/radio.

He also served as Latin American bureau chief for ABC in Miami, where he hosted ABC's "Caribbean Listening Post" and interpreted Cuban News broadcast for the network.
