The big game will be here before you know it. Here are some Patch-tested places in which to watch it.
PITTSBURGH, PA — With the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs preparing to play in the big game in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9, it’s not too early to scout the best places to watch here in Pittsburgh.
If you want someone else to make the snacks or serve the beer, several sports bars in the area are primed for the handoff. Kickoff in New Orleans is at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Feb. 9, but you’ll want to get to your favorite spot earlier.
- Tom's Watch Bar, North Shore: The expanding sports bar chain has a stadium screen and hundreds of other TV screens providing immersive 360-degree viewing. Owned by the co-founder of the Smashburger restaurant chain, Tom's is located on North Shore Drive between PNC Park and Heinz Field.
- City Works, Market Square: This expansive place has five extra-large HDTVs with state-of-the-art audio, more than 11,000 square feet of indoor dining space and 90 craft beers and eight wines on tap. 'Nuff said.
- Bigham Tavern, Mt. Washington: Let's start with 18 HDTVs and 10 large screens. Now let's add the bar's multiple awards for its wings and pub grub. Can't go wrong with this place.
- All Star Sports Bar & Grill, Robinson, Canonsburg: These places take their sports seriously. Each location is decked out with more than 20 HDTVS - but wait, there's more. Each booth features its own flat-screen TV.
- Twin Peaks, Robinson: With wall-to-wall TVs, you can see the big game from every angle. The lodge also features the famous Twin Peaks Girls serving scratch food and the chains signature 29-degree beers.
- Carson City Saloon, South Side: This three-level sports bar features too many TVs to count and standard tavern grub.
