Christian J. Reiss Jr., 89, Retired Conrail Freight Conductor

His funeral will be private; arrangements are being handled by the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home in Riverside.

Christian J. Reiss Jr., of Primrose Hill Road, Barrington, died peacefully on Sept. 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen M. (Plante) Reiss. Born in Boston, Mass., he was a son of the late Christian J. and Anna (Foster) Reiss.

Reiss  lived in Barrington for 55 years. He was freight conductor for the Conrail Railroad for 33 years before retiring in 1984. 

He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Rochester, NH. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed golfing and was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He was a Navy veteran serving during World War II. 

He is survived by a son, David C. Reiss and his wife Elizabeth of South Kingstown, three grandchildren; Timothy Reiss, Daniel Reiss and Kelly Reiss, all of South Kingstown and a sister; Patricia. He was father of the late Beverly Reiss and Christian Reiss and brother of the late Mildred, Harold, Marie, Eleanor, Robert and Richard Reiss. 

His funeral service will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
