Cranston Man Charged in Connection with Warwick Murder

Four more people are facing charges in connection with the stabbing death of a 20-year-old Warwick man on Saturday.

WARWICK, RI—Less than a week after Jared Rogers, 20, of Warwick was arrested for the stabbing murder of his nephew, Michael Rogers, police are filing charges against four more people who were "directly involved in the murder," police said.

John Ingram, 18, of Cranston; Josue Morillo, 19, of Providence; and Andrew Soben, 19, of West Warwick were arrested by Warwick police and will be arraigned today at the Kent County Courthouse on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Also facing charges is Jake Cabral, 19, of Warwick, who is already being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston on an unrelated charge and "is alleged to have also assisted in the murder/assault with a dangerous weapon," police said.

Police said in a news release that the arrests are the result of continued investigation into the murder, which happened inside a Haswill Street house on Saturday morning. The victims were stabbed while in bed and Jared Rogers was the subject of a 10-hour manhunt that ended in North Providence after a store clerk called police as Rogers tried to buy bleach and sleeping pils.

Police had been at the house hours before Rogers came back to stab his brother and nephew after a reported domestic disturbance. Rogers was transported to a detox center but left several hours later and got a ride back to the neighborhood, police said.

"As the department continued to vigorously investigate the murder, information was received that other people were allegedly involved in the event," Warwick police said in a news release. "Three males were sought as potential witnesses to the murder. Ultimately, through the investigation, it was discovered that these subjects were directly involved in the murder/assault with a dangerous weapon, to varying degrees. They are alleged to have acted in concert with Jared Rogers."
