CRANSTON, RI — Police describe Travone Green, 22, of Providence, as a "known member of the Bloods street gang" with a long rap sheet. On Tuesday, he faced a judge in District Court where he was charged with possession of a stolen car, a 2006 Toyota Highlander car jacked in Boston on April 20. He was also charged with weapons offenses after police found "a .38 Caliber revolver fully loaded and a German Polizei U Dienst Pistol 7.65 caliber-MOD PPK automatic" in the car.
The car was parked illegally on Mayflower Avenue on Monday, and a patrol officer checked it out at 3:59 a.m.
"It had been reported stolen in Boston," police said, in connection with a carjacking. Cranston police investigated and spotted a woman leaving 138 Waite Ave. She went to the car and unlocked it. At the Waite Avenue house, police encountered Green, who was wanted in Central Falls "for first degree armed robbery with a pistol and three active Rhode Island court warrants," police said. Officers also learned Green was in a chase with Pawtucket police hours earlier.
