Erratic Driver In Cranston Stopped With Infant, Charged With DUI

State police said the West Warwick man was spotted in Cranston before state police pulled him over in his hometown.

CRANSTON, RI—Calls to police about an erratic driver in Cranston and in Warwick led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man with a 20-month-old baby in his car.

State police spotted the car on Linden Drive in West Warwick and arrested Richard G. Rego, of West Warwick, around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs, first offense, police said.

Relatives came for the baby. The state Department for Children, Youth and Families was notified about the incident, state police said.

Rego was held overnight. He was due in court Thursday.
