Smithfield Police Seek ID of 3 in Coordinated Purse Theft
Police said the three men distracted a woman at Dave's Marketplace and stole her purse, later using her credit cards to buy items at Target.
SMITHFIELD, RI—The Smithfield Police Department is attempting to identify three men involved in the theft of a purse from a shopping cart at Dave's Marketplace.
Police said the three men were in the store on March 4 at around 3 p.m.
Police described the theft as a "well coordinated theft that was executed in which the suspects entered the store separately and then converged on the victim simultaneously."

A man in a fedora disracted the woman while the other two walked by. A man in a scarf is the one who stole the purse, police said.
The suspects then went right over to Target and used the victim's credit card to make fraudulent purchases, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 401-231-2500 ext. 122. Det. Sgt. Gregg Catlow is handling the investigation.
