Wanted: Woman Steals Cash from Shopper's Purse in East Providence
Police said the victim accidentally left her pocketbook on a clearance item table and when she retrieved it minutes later, $320 was missing.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—City police are trying to track down a woman who recently stole cash and a cell phone from a customer at Burlington Coat Factory in East Providence and drove off in a Volkswagen Beetle.
Police said the the victim was shopping in the store on Sept. 8 when she looked at some clearance items at the front of the store. When she left the table, she accidentally left her pocketbook on the table.
A few minutes later, the woman realized she forgot her purse and went back to find her pocketbook, sans $320 cash and her cellphone.

Security cameras showed the suspect remove the items from the pocketbook and walk to a different part of the store where the phone was eventually found.
The suspect is described as a white female with dark hair. She was wearing a yellow tank top and jean shorts, leaving the store in a convertible Volkswagen Beetle.
