Mathew Lombardi: WWII Navy Veteran

Mathew Lombardi, 91, of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Elenora (Cipriano) Lombardi.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Filomena (Candelmo) Lombardi. He was a WW-II U.S. Navy veteran.

He was the devoted father of Joseph Lombardi of North Providence, James Lombardi of Lutz, FL, and the late Matthew Lombardi. He was the father-in-law of Freda Lombardi and Lynn Lombardi; loving grandfather of Jessica L. Pierson, Joseph A. Lombardi, Matthew Lombardi, Jr., Alisha L. Lombardi and Valerie E. Lombardi.

He was the dear brother of the late Alfred Lombardi, Mario Lombardo, Angelina Salzillo, Vera Marshall, Carmen Lonardo, Joe Lonardo, Anna Mello, Marie DiSegna, Dominic Lombardi and Phyllis DeFelice.

Matthew worked as a plasterer and a mason until his retirement.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Entombment with military honors will be at Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
