• Thieves steal $470K worth of electrical wire from Rhode Island highways (turnto10.com) — Highway lights in and around Johnston are among those left dark after thieves stole about 11 miles of electrical wire from Rhode Island highways, costing roughly $470,000 in materials alone. RIDOT says at least 16 thefts have hit the Providence metro area, including Johnston, and it may take weeks to restore lighting while police investigate and new anti-theft measures are installed.
