5 RI Police Agencies Teaming For Labor Day DUI Enforcement
The effort will focus on the "areas encompassing Newport County," police said.
NEWPORT, RI — Five law enforcement agencies are teaming up to take down drunken drivers over Labor Day Weekend, according to the Newport Police Department.
"This Labor Day weekend, Police Officers and Troopers from the Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport,
Jamestown, and Rhode Island State Police will be joining together in a high-visibility enforcement
campaign to detect and arrest impaired drivers," the Newport Police Department posted on its Facbook page.
The Friday-through-Monday campaign "will focus on the areas encompassing Newport County," according to the post.

"Police Officers and Troopers will be working in collaboration to enforce motor vehicle violations and specifically target those motorists who are operating while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs," the post said. "The Providence Police Department's Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit will also be deployed to the area to assist with the centralized processing of those suspected of driving while under the influence.
