Back To School: Newport 2022-23 School Calendar

NEWPORT, RI — Back-to-school planning has already begun in the Newport area, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Newport Public School District.

The first day of school for grades 1-12 students is Wednesday, Sept. 7. Younger students will have a soft start by appointment from Sept. 7-9, and have their first official day on Sept. 12.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its two year-and-a-half point.

As of Tuesday, Aug. 3, Newport Public Schools has no plans to require masks in school, regardless of vaccination status.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

First Day: Sept. 7

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 23-25

Winter Break: Dec. 23-Jan.2

February Vacation: Feb. 20-24

April Vacation: April 10-April 14

High School Graduation: June 8

Last Day: June 23
