Parents in Newport can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.
NEWPORT, RI — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Newport, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Newport Public Schools.
The first day of school for most students in Newport is Sept 6.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

Newport Public Schools
First Day: Sept. 6, except for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Those students will have a soft start by appointment on Sept. 6 through Sept. 8, while their first official day is Sept. 11.

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22 through 24
Winter Break: Dec. 25 through Jan. 1
February Vacation: Feb. 19 through Feb. 23
Spring Break: April 15 through April 19
Last Day: June 11 for seniors. June 17 for everyone else.
