Car Fire Stops Traffic On Newport Bridge

NEWPORT, RI — A major crash on the Newport Pell Bridge completely stopped traffic in both directions during the Monday morning report.

The crash closed traffic heading in both directions just after 9 a.m., the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said.

The crash scene was cleared by 9:30 a.m., the RITBA said, though residual traffic delays are expected to continue as traffic gets moving again.
