Earthquake Rattles Rhode Island
An earthquake could be felt as far south as Newport, as houses rattled and nerves were shook.
RHODE ISLAND — A 3.8-magnitude earthquake centered off the coast of York, Maine shook houses and rattled nerves across Rhode Island on Monday morning.
The quake was reported by USGS.
The earthquake was originally reported at 4.1 magnitude, soon revised to 3.8, according to the United States Geological Survey.

A map from the USGS showed the quake could be felt as far north as Augusta, Maine and Montpelier, Vermont, as far west as the Berkshires and as far south as Newport and Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The USGS "Did You Feel It?" indicated residents in southern Maine, coastal New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts reported feeling the rattling as a moderate earthquake, with most of eastern New England reporting light or very light impact.
The time of the earthquake was reported at 10:22 a.m. with a depth of 12 miles.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat in the wake of the quake.
