Easton's Beach In Newport Closed To Swimming For High Bacteria Levels

NEWPORT, RI — Easton's Beach (also known as First Beach) in Newport has closed for swimming, the Rhode Island Department of Health said Wednesday.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommended the closure because of high bacteria levels making it unsafe to swim.

RIDOH officials said they will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout summer.
