Extreme Cold Breaks Records in RI
It hit -9 degrees at T.F. Green early Sunday morning, breaking the previous record of -7 in 1979.

Rhode Islanders woke up to the coldest morning of the winter this Valentine’s Day with a record breaking low of -9 at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.
The previous low of -7 was set in 1979.
Meanwhile a Wind Chill Warning will remain in place until noon, according to the National Weather Service. The coldest recorded wind chill in Providence was -36 as of 7 a.m.

The good news is that temperature have reached their lowest point and should start increasing through the rest of the day and into the upcoming week. In fact, the forecast calls for rain and temperatures in the mid 40s by Wednesday.
