Flo's...Shack? No Fried Clams Amid High Prices
The East Bay summer standby won't sell any fried clams until wholesale prices drop.

NEWPORT, RI — "Flo's Clam Shack" is currently a misnomer. The popular beachside seafood stop won't sell their eponymous fried clams until further notice.
Frying clams are currently at the "absolute highest ... anyone has ever seen," the restaurant's management said in a post on Facebook.
"Sorry, we are not selling any until the price drops, hopefully soon," the post said. "Flo’s will not pass this outrageous cost on to our customers."

There are likely several culprits behind the high prices, Flo's said, including lack of workers, transportation costs, the fact that it's blueberry season and a lack of shuckers.
In the meantime, the shack soldiers on. While fired clams are currently off the menu, customers can enjoy other offering including fried scallops, oysters and clam strips, the post said.

"The almighty fried clam will be back!" the post concluded.
