Holiday Sparkling Lights Returning To Newport Mansions: See 2023 Dates
Visitors can around the Breakers in Newport, enjoying a half-mile-long path glittering with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights

NEWPORT, RI — Looking for some holiday cheer before Thanksgiving? Newport has you covered with the fourth annual "Sparkling Lights at the Breakers."
The annual holiday lights at the Newport mansion, "The Breakers" opens Nov. 17.and runs on various dates until Dec. 30. Visitors can stroll in a complete loop around the property, enjoying a half-mile-long path glittering with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights while music fills the air.
Highlights include dazzling tunnels of lights, a 50-foot-long, 26-foot-tall light display on the back lawn in the outline of a train from the Vanderbilts’ New York Central and Hudson River Railroad, and more.

Fire pits will also light the way and help visitors stay warm. The back terrace will have warming stations and adult beverages will be available for sale. Holiday sweets and treats will be available for purchase, including s’mores kits to cook over the fire pit. The Breakers Welcome Center will also have snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase.
"We started Sparkling Lights at The Breakers in 2020 during the pandemic because people were looking for outdoor experiences," Preservation Society of Newport County CEO Trudy Coxe said. "Since then, it has grown every year and has become a holiday tradition for many in New England and beyond.”"

Admission to “Sparkling Lights at The Breakers” requires a special ticket with a specific date and entry time, and it includes interior access to The Breakers during the same visit. Tour times are 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. The gates close at 6:30 p.m. and the house and grounds close at 8 p.m. Visitors are welcome to stay on the property for as long as they wish until closing.
