Major Flooding Closes Several Streets In Newport
Flooding caused by rain Tuesday into Wednesday has caused the closure of at least four roads in Newport, according to police.

NEWPORT, RI — Flooding caused by rain Tuesday into Wednesday has caused the closure of several roads in Newport, according to police.
Newport police said the following roads are closed, as of Wednesday morning:
- Ocean Avenue at Harrison Avenue
- The eastbound lane of Memorial Boulevard
- Wellington Avenue
- Third Street in the area of the Causeway
Police said to seek alternate routes until floodwaters recede.

A flood warning is in effect for central Rhode Island until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, and until Friday for the southwestern part of the state, according to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.
