Maurice Margolis, Owned Sig's On Carroll Avenue
Mr. Margolis died Sept. 30, according to his son Shawn, who posted the sad news on his Facebook page. His funeral was Oct. 3.
NEWPORT, RI—Maurice Margolis died Sept. 30, according to his son Shawn. Margolis owned Sig's Deli, which was a fixture on Carroll Avenue in the Fifth Ward for decades. In 2008, his son Shawn was interviewed about the decision to sell the deli. At the time, he said, his parents kept it going for the employees. (He opened another deli, Sig's Place, on Aquidneck Avenue after Sig's was sold.) Margolis's funeral was Oct. 3.
