New Pope Francis Elected: Newport Residents React
Members of the community responded to the news of the newly elected Pope Francis I.
The white smoke appeared on Wednesday, signalling that the conclave had chosen Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio to be the new head of the Catholic Church.

Linda Petrone: I would like to see the Catholic Church become more inclusive, they need to practice what they preach, help the poor, feed the hungry, help house the homeless, and most of all stand up for EQUALITY..its the 21st century now..They could be an important signal to other religions to treat all of Gods children the same....
