Newport Looking For Poll Workers For Elections This Fall
Poll workers can make $275 per day, with various positions available and paid training offered as part of the recruitment process.

NEWPORT, RI — Newport is looking for people interested in being poll workers for the primary and general elections this fall.
Interested residents 16 year and older who are registered, or pre-registered to vote are encouraged to reach out to the Newport Canvassing Office at 401-845-5386. Poll workers can make $275 per day, with various positions available and paid training offered as part of the recruitment process.
Specifically, city officials said they need additional bilingual workers. All poll workers are required to be able to read the state constitution in English, and appointments may be contingent upon passing a test based on material presented in a training class.

Municipal employees, except teachers, are prohibited from working as poll workers in a primary election in their city or town of employment. This restriction does not apply to the general election.
Poll workers are needed for both the statewide primary on Sept. 10, and the general on Nov. 5.
