Newport and Middletown Head Start Sites Achieve 5-Star Rating

East Bay Community Action Program's Newport and Middletown Head Start Sites Achieved a 5-Star Rating from BrightStars

Two of East Bay Community Action Program’s (EBCAP) Head Start Programs, 8 John H. Chafee Blvd. in Newport and Aquidneck Elementary in Middletown, have achieved a 5-star rating from BrightStars. This is the highest rating for licensed childcare programs in the state. EBCAP’s Newport Head Start center provides early childhood education services to children aged birth-five. EBCAP also operates a Head Start site at Aquidneck Elementary School in Middletown which provides Pre-K education to children ages three-five.

BrightStars is Rhode Island’s Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement system. Through this star rating system, BrightStars helps early learning, education and school-age programs learn about best practices and how to apply them to the care children receive. BrightStars recognizes program quality and gives parents the information to make choices about their children’s care and education.

“This 5-star rating affirms the hard work that goes into providing a nurturing and quality learning environment for young children every day,” said Linda Laliberte, VP of EBCAP’s Head Start and Early Head Start. “This is an enormous achievement that speaks to the professionalism and dedication of our Head Start staff in Middletown and Newport.”
