Newport Moving To Weekly Fall Yard Waste Collection
Newport residents will have more opportunities to clean up following this week's nor'easter.
NEWPORT, RI — In the aftermath of this week's powerful October nor'easter, many Newport residents are clearing extra leaves, branches and other debris from their yard. The storm came just before the city's transition to extra yard waste pickups, which will be in place throughout most of November.
Starting Monday, the city will collect yard waste every week, rather than the every other week summer schedule. This schedule will continue until Nov. 19.
Residents can leave yard waste at the curb for collection on their usual trash day. Leaves, grass clibbing and branches up to three feet long can be placed in paper bags, 32 gallon trash cans or tied into bundles. Yard waste only stickers are not required. Plastic bags will be collected.
