Newport: People's Credit Union Opens After Robbery Thursday
Police arrested a Newport man who was allegedly leaving in an Orange taxi.

NEWPORT, RI—People's Credit Union on Memorial Boulevard is open for business Friday after a hold up Thursday morning. According to court records, Randy DeMello, 54, of Newport, is accused of the crime. He was charged with second degree robbery.
Amy Martel, executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said she could not provide details, except to say no one was hurt and a suspect was quickly arrested. She also credited her staff for following procedures.
