NEWPORT, RI — Newport is looking for new recruits to join the city's police department.
Applications for new Newport police officers will be accepted until Feb. 20. Both Rhode Island certified police officers and new recruits are encouraged to apply.
All those interested in serving the community by becoming a Newport police officer are encouraged to fill out an application by visiting www.PoliceApp.com.

Applicants must be at least 21 as of Feb. 20, and be a high school graduate or possess a GED/equivalent.
Prospective candidates should be available to complete a physical fitness assessment and written examination conducted by Fit2ServeRI. There will be assessments Jan. 5 to 7.
