Newport Police ID Middletown Woman Who Died After Getting Hit By Truck
Newport police say the pickup truck driver was cited and charged with obedience to devices (red light) and due care by drivers.
NEWPORT, RI — Police have identified a Middletown woman who died Wednesday morning after getting hit by a truck in Newport on Wednesday morning, according to police.
Newport police on Thursday morning identified the victim as Kayla Watson, 34.
According to police, the crash happened around 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Admiral Kalbfus Road and Hillside Avenue. Police said a 53-year-old South Attleboro, Massachusetts, man turned left onto Hillside Avenue and hit Watson as she passed by on her electric bike.

Emergency officials rushed Watson to Newport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
