Newport Police Log: Man Charged with Drug Possession
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Brendan T. Barrett, 24, of 75 Park Holm Newport, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, for a drug possession charge.
According to reports, police saw Barrett walking and he appeared to be evading them. When two warrants came back from dispatch for B. Barrett, police stopped him.
During a search, officers reportedly found green pills wrapped in cellophane on Barrett. He told police they were Clonazepam and that he did not have a prescription for them.

The two warrants ended up not being for Barrett, but were for his sister.
