Newport: Section Of Thames Street To Close Tuesday

NEWPORT, RI — A section of Thames Street near Sharon Court will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Newport police say. The reason is due to maintenance work on the gas main. Southbound traffic will be detoured while National Grid digs up the street. That work will start around 9 a.m. after the morning commute.

"Traffic will be detoured at Thames Street and Wellington Avenue; westbound on Wellington Avenue, then southbound on Marchant Street, and eastbound on West Narragansett Avenue," police said.

Officers will be directing traffic.
